GRADE 9 - Lesson Title: Chemical Reactions
Chapter/Lessons: Chapter 7: Describing Reactions, Types of Reactions, Energy Changes, Reaction Rates, Equilibrium
Learning Objectives
- Interpret chemical equations in terms of reactants, products, and conservation of mass.
- Balance chemical equations, covert between moles and mass of a substance, calculate amounts of reactants and products.
- Classify chemical reactions as synthesis, decomposition, single-replacement, double-replacement, or combustion; describe oxidation-reduction reactions.
- Describe the energy changes during reactions, classify reactions as endothermic or exothermic, explain conservation of energy.
- Explain what a reaction rate is; describe the factors affecting reaction rates.
- Identify and describe physical and chemical equilibria and describe factors affecting chemical equilibrium.
