Open House

Our first school-wide Open House will be held on Monday, October 24th from 5-6:30pm. We are having lots of entertainment that night which includes family pictures, songs from the choir, and creating picture frames. A hot dog combo will also be offered for $3.oo. This includes drink, hot dog, and a bag of chips. Please send in your money with your child ahead of time. Also a reminder parents, please check over your child's planner every night to make sure that they are completing their homework. Students are doing a much better job at copying down their homework assignments. Good job guys!!

Spelling

We have found a great website to help our students learn their weekly spelling and vocabulary words. They will have lots of fun with a variety of games, and they can even test themselves when spellling each word. The website is www.spellingcity.com. Letters are going home today to explain how to use the website. I will still hand out a copy of the spelling list every Monday. Have fun learning!

Attention Parents,

We would like to thank each and every one of you for attending our OPEN HOUSE on Sept. 8th! We appreciated hearing all of your comments and concerns about our school.
One issue which was discussed during our meeting was the idea of posting homework assignments onto our blog. Mrs. Gay and I have discussed this idea among other teachers and with Mrs. Julie. After careful consideration of all students, parents, as well as the teachers involved, we have decided to continue our present method of having the students copy homework information into their planners and having the parent view the planner and sign it each evening.
Writing in planners is not a new concept for the students since they have been trained to do this in second grade. However, if you still feel as though your child is having difficulty with this very important responsibility, we are willing to "check" his/her planner for accuracy and neatness for a short period.
If you have further questions concerning this issue, please contact Mrs. Julie.
