2011 Christmas Card Design Winners

Congratulations to the 2011 APCS Christmas Card Contest winners! One design from each grade was chosen to be printed on Christmas cards that will be sold in sets of thirteen (one from each grade). Cards will go on sale for $10/box the week we return from Thanksgiving break. Order forms will be sent home on November 28, and cards will be available in both offices. Supplies are limited, so be sure to order early. The money raised from the sale of the Christmas cards will support the visual and performing arts at APCS.

The video is only visible by clicking the above link. You may share with others by sending the Youtube URL or a link to this blog.

Cubist Study

Cubism is a style of art developed by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque in the early 1900s. Cubism is characterized by flat planes, multiple viewpoints of the subject, angular lines, and repeated slashing brushtrokes, among other characteristics. The cubist works of Picasso led to him being described as the most famous artist of the twentieth century. Cubism continues to influence and appear in the work of contemporary artists.

Art two and three students recently completed a study of Cubism which culminated in the painting of portraits in the style of Picasso. See how many Cubist characteristics you can find in the video below.

The original artwork is on display in the high school lobby for the next few weeks, so stop by and see these wonderful works up close.
